Members protest proposed bingo closure

Splinter group against free bingo club closure
The closure of a British Legion club in Edinburgh is being protested by a rebellious group of members.
Free bingo fans will perhaps empathise with the faction, who will miss out on bingo games and other social functions at the Rodney Street British Legion the last of its kind in the city should the closure go ahead.
Club leaders are adamant that the venue should close, but the rebel group says that they are prepared to go as far as locking themselves in the premises to protest the move.
Faction president Ronald Dixon spoke out against the group to The Scotsman. He said:
"This club belongs to its members, and they rely on it. When it was bought, all of the money that went on the deposit was generated by members who came to the events we organised. They don't want it to close and we will fight this decision. They can get lost."
People will fight for their bingo!
This isn't the first case of bingo fans sticking up for their local club, with a recent instance occurring at a venue as far afield as Alabama.
Police in the state attempted to remove 800 electronic bingo machines from the Greentrack bingo hall, claiming that they come under the illegal slot machine umbrella and contravene regional laws.
Some 400 people turned up to oppose the seizure, including a Democratic State Senator, who was taken in by officials.
