BOGOF Bingo's guide to April Fool's Day 2010

Large Hadron Collider heading for London?

April Fool's Day 2010

BOGOF Bingo is well known for making online bingo fun.

From our cheeky news stories about Gay Bingo and relationship woes to our hilarious BOGOF Bingo DJ Talent ad, we recognise that free bingo is about having a laugh first and foremost.

Of course, if you're looking for a bit of a chuckle, the best time of the year is undoubtedly April Fool's Day and this year was no exception.

In the following BOGOF Bingo article, we look at some of the very best UK newspaper pranks for April Fool's Day 2010.

  • The Guardian

As the UK braced itself for the start of another General Election campaign, the Guardian claimed that Labour had come up with a novel way of promoting their man. Gordon Brown, we were told, would be shown having a dig at Tory leader David Cameron on a series of Dirty Harry-style campaign posters. Slogans like "Step outside posh boy", "You. Outside" and "Vote Labour. Or Else" would highlight the hardman credentials of the prime minister, giving a whole new meaning to the free bingo call "Gordon's Den Number Ten".

  • The Independent

The Independent alleged that the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (Cern) was deep in discussion with Transport for London. Apparently, they planned to transform the Circle Line into an "atom smasher" along the lines of the Large Hadron Collider as they continue to search for the God particle. The 27km line could quite literally become the "Gateway to Heaven".

  • The Daily Mail

Any free bingo fan will tell you that it's infuriating when you break down in traffic and the breakdown recovery service can't reach you. Stepping into the breach, the AA has supposedly trialled a new scheme that involves fitting engineers with one-man jetpacks. The first public tests have been earmarked for the M25 so, if you're out and about on the outskirts of London, be prepared to "Duck and Dive".
