Bingo fans protest club closure

Free bingo fans will do anything to play
Free bingo fans can perhaps sympathise with the plight of protestors arrested this week as they rallied against the closure of a local bingo hall.
We know that our free bingo players will do anything for a game, but whether they're prepared to spend the night in jail is anyone's guess. Sixteen people blocked the entrance of the Greenetrack bingo hall in Alabama as police attempted to seize 800 electronic bingo machines.
Authorities in the region had decreed the machines illegal, claiming that they are illegal slot machines which contravene the laws of the state regarding on-and-offline gambling.
However, members of the public have decided to revolt against the prospective closure of the site and the loss of employment for some 400 people. Among them was Democratic State Senator Bobby Singleton of Greensboro, who himself was taken in by officials.
Bingo love
Of course, people's love of bingo has become a widespread phenomenon. Indeed, celebrities have been known to indulge their passion for the game. Here are just a few:
- Robbie Williams played at a charity tournament in which he was actually the first big winner. The former Take That singer picked up a Diane Merrick leopard print handbag.
- Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who this week revealed that he is a father, reportedly became hooked on the game after being given a bingo DVD when he first arrived in the UK.
- Movie star Russell Crowe also has a storied bingo history, working for a time as a caller in New Zealand.
It just goes to show that anyone and everyone likes a game of free bingo!
