Bingo fan celebrates remarkable 2009

Huddersfield man won 129 bingo games in a year

A bingo fan in Huddersfield may just be Britain's luckiest player.

Brian Parker, a 74-year-old grandfather of two, won an astonishing 129 times over the course of 2009, reports the Huddersfield Examiner.

He estimates that his total bingo winnings last year amounted to between £3,000 and £4,000.

Mr Parker plays the game around six times a week, at his local bingo club in Huddersfield.

And he admits to having always been blessed with good fortune.

"I think I was just born lucky," he said. "I win wherever I go - when I'm on holiday, I have a go and I'm always successful."

Having played the numbers game almost non-stop for the past 25 to 30 years, the former brickyard worker has been nicknamed 'Bingo Brian' by staff at the bingo club.

But it is enjoyment, rather than massive bingo bonus prizes, that keeps him coming back time and again.

Indeed, Mr Parker always goes halves on his winnings with wife Madge - even though she doesn't take part herself.

"She's not interested, she'd rather watch television or read a good book," he joked. "It gets me out from under her feet."

Every online bingo fan knows that some players just seem to get all the luck.

Indeed, last year saw the publication of a bingo horoscope suggesting that some star signs were significantly luckier than others.

Taureans won 35 per cent more games than Virgos, while Cancerians apparently took more risks than anybody else.
